A train carriage on fire, between model and reality!
Posted by TOMMASO VENTURATO

I created this small masterpiece of extremely complex technique to be made at the request of a client.
There were so many steps, I'll give you a brief summary.
To obtain the result of a carriage that has suffered a fire in H0 1:87 scale it is necessary to dismantle the body from the chassis.
The next step is to carefully remove the glass and cut off any excess that has exploded from the heat of the flames.
To create a base opacity with the airbrush, I recommend using the following product:
TA COLORS TA-C612M - 30ml Matt SAND Acrylic Color
To obtain the rust effect, it is necessary to mix pigments of various colours in order to obtain a satisfactory base shade, subsequently adding a few drops of opaque transparent:
TA COLORS TA-C110M - 30ml Clear Opaque Acrylic Color
This creates a kind of paste that can be spread by gently tapping with the sponge. Once the mixture is dry, you can continue with the airbrush and powders until you achieve the desired effect.

The completion time for such a job can reach up to 10 hours.
